The Indian team began its defence of the Under-19 Asia Cup in style, beating Malaysia by eight wickets in a Group A match at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
After choosing to bowl, Sharma, the right-arm medium-pacer, and Rush Kalaria, the left-arm medium-pacer, had the Malaysians on the mat at 29 for 3 by the eighth over.
The innings never gathered any momentum as Vikas Mishra, the left-arm spinner from Delhi, came up with a brilliant spell of 4 for 18 from 8.3 overs. Kalaria and Unmukt Chand, the Indian captain, picked up two wickets apiece as Malaysia were bowled out for 126 in the 40th over.
In response, Manan Vohra, the Chandigarh right-hand batsman, and Chand put on 50 for the first wicket before Vohra fell for 26, leg before to Anwar Rahman. Chand also fell to the same bowler for  37 in the 19th over.
Baba Aparajith, the Tamil Nadu right-hand batsman, and Vijay Zol, the 17-year-old Maharashtra batsman, took India past the modest target with ease. Aparajith was unbeaten on 38 and Zol on 20 as the
